I really love this game concept. I think it is a really fun little experience and I'd love to see it get more fleshed out and expanded! I think this has a ton of awesome potential!

Thank you! Feel free to come by the discord if you want to be more involved with the game as we continue to expand it. (link is in the main menu of the game)

Since the last update, I experienced a bug with the “Brevity” perk:

  1. I received “Brevity” as part of a promotion. It triggers once when I start the Placebo round on a Loan, as it should.
  2. Brevity is triggering every time I flip a card now. I breeze straight to 1000mg and make enough money for the exit before I hit 21:30. Definitely a bug.

EDIT W/ UPDATED INFO:

I sold the Loan, causing Brevity not to trigger. The bug I described above no longer happens. So I’m guessing the bug has something to do with the Brevity being triggered by the Loan at the beginning of the round, maybe because Loan is also triggered at the beginning of the round? I didn’t get to experiment with this using any other perks that would trigger Brevity, so I don’t know if it’s just the Loan that’s doing this. I’ve played with Brevity before and had it functioning normally, but this was before the most recent update.

SECOND UPDATE:

I managed to get a game going where I had two perks triggering Brevity (a Loan and a Blink), and this caused me to gain +2 multiplier every time I flipped a card. So I think Brevity is just triggering on every card flip instead of just at the beginning of the round.

Thank you so much for this bug report! I changed Brevity in the last update and I must have broken it. Will be patching this soon. I appreciate the attention to detail!

Just pushed an update that fixes this bug, thanks again for reporting it!

HUUGE Framerate drop I've been experiencing! Not even downloading the game saves me from it! What changes were made recently?

Uh oh, did this start today?

Yeah. I was about to think it might be an issue with Itch itself, but that wouldn't be the case since it's also effecting the downloaded version.

I don't think it could be the update that I pushed today because it only updated half an hour ago and you were experiencing the issue an hour ago (before the new update was up). The last update before today was 2 weeks ago. Were you experiencing those issues then?

1. Really good game. I suck at it.

2. Do you have a list of all perks so I could make a physical version?

Woah that's a cool idea! Let me see what I can do...

(2 edits)

well thank you

For the physical version, I was thinking the singleplayer, and using poker chips for money like in the actual version

Also, what are the chances for common/uncommon/rare perks, and what are the chances for perks to be attached to eachother?

After I make it, I probably will send a photo of it set up.

And thank you for doing this

Also, as asformentioned, I suck at this game, so how much time does the more time button give you?

(+2)

The time button gives you an extra hour, heals you for 1, and then multiplies the cost of the exit door and itself by 10.

The creation of perks in the shop works like so:

  1. A pool of perks is created to draw from. Every rare goes into the pool once, every uncommon goes in 3 times, every common goes in 7 times.
  2. The game then picks three from this list (they are not allowed to be the same, and they are not allowed to be the same as whatever last showed up in the shop if you're rerolling).
  3. There is a 1% chance for a perk to be attached. The attached perk is selected the same way as the initial cards are.
  4. There is a 2% chance that one of the perks will be on sale, which halves its cost in the shop.

I will get back to you soon with the list of perks.

Hi, loved the game. Enjoyed it so much I even made a yt short so maybe more people could know about it. Thank you for the fun game!
(+1)

Thanks for playing and spreading the word!

(+2)

Interesting concept and beautiful looking game

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it

This game will be the death of me but I'm addicted lol

(+2)

I just read the 99mg dose, and it is very coded for Mr Jerry, as opposed to Mr Magpie

;)

(+3)

"Basement Intel" Is now a better name for flipping all Hint Cards on the bottom row, instead of all multipliers

(+3)

ooh great point! funny story about that perk - at one point during development the theme of the game was going to be a heist, so the skulls were security guards, the money was money and the multiplier was "intel", I just never got around to changing the name!

(4 edits) (+3)

Blanks have been changed to hints!! That's genius!!

To make it clear why I like this so much, changing blanks to hints literally fixes the one issue I had with this game, which is that there was no way to deduce where the enemy cards were

(+1)

;)

(+2)

i looove this game, so addictive!! :)

(+1)

Glad you're enjoying the game!

(+2)

Hi! I had to play it again. :) It was the first game I streamed to TikTok, and I plan on playing it again soon!

(+2)

That was fun to watch! You've got good energy. Hope you find what's behind the 99 door sometime soon ;)

(+1)

Did you know that if you have no groups larger than one card, Group Think can be used to make eyes retrigger themselves?  Now you know!

i thought they patched that a long time ago...

Oh interesting! Was this possible with just Group Think or did you have other perks as well? I'm trying to decide if this is overpowering / easy enough to assemble that it's worth nerfing in some way.

(4 edits)

The full build was Group Think, Printing Money, Money into Multiplier, 360 Feedback, and Top!  You need a way of making eyes generate $ and Money into Multiplier to go exponential like this.  I took this screenshot using a lucky spread where I flipped an infinity card with another in the top row!

...wait, I still have the full screenshot I cropped that image from!  I can just post it!

Thanks for the extra info! Do you remember if the group think activated the eyes here and not the big group of money? Or was the big combo from a previous turn where the money wasn't flipped up yet?

(7 edits) (+1)

I'd used Group Think to scale on a turn when the large group of money cards hadn't been completed yet.  After that, I was relying on Top and the top-row infinity card to finish the job!  This combo isn't nearly as silly on boards where the position of retriggers relative to eyes matters

(+2)

love this game can you make where we can buy our health back

Deleted 24 days ago

you can buy pressing the secret button in the top left corner

Thanks! What is the feeling you're having where you want to buy back health?

(1 edit)

Newest build has this now! I'm not sure if it's up on itch yet but if you join the Discord server you can play that version. You can buy back health with time in the shop.

(+3)

this game is super fun i just wish there wasn't a time limit

thanks! have you found the secret button?

(+1)

when I first played this game and the first 4 cards I flipped were skulls I thought it was intentional. Later reloaded the page and turns out I was just really unlucky.

lol yeah very bad luck

Wait, that would actually make for a really cool intro to the game

🤔

(+1)

OK! I really liked this game. The only thing is I wish this was on steam and had a leaderboard :)

(+1)

Thank you! That's a fun video. Being on steam is in the plan - eventually!

(+1)

when you put it on steam can you make it multiplayer? i would definitely pay for that

Making it multiplayer would be quite a puzzle since it's designed to be singleplayer. We'll see what we can think of. What are the reasons you'd want it to be multiplayer? Specific people you'd want to play against? The feeling of having an opponent making decisions against you? Something else?

n
never got out of the money hell

Thanks for playing! I enjoyed seeing you learn more about the game, and good job getting to Tuesday!

(+1)

wow this game is really fun! Awesome work on the assets and the game mechanics, it all functions really well and is rather enjoyable! Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks so much! It's really nice to read comments like this, keeps me motivated!

(+1)

Love the addition of getting through the work week! I also completely agree on the Prismatic Pillar and Recon being upgraded to the Gold Tier of perks since they were completely broken previously. I previously barely looked at eye mechanics outside the 360 Perk and now I love them.  Overall, great work!

Thanks! Yeah when I was playtesting I realized that I was prioritizing those two over basically everything else and I was like, ah, these should be rare XD.

i love gambling my life with elmo's uncle's roommate's sister's cousin

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Good luck getting to the weekend

This game was a blast to play would definitely play more if there was more things to do!

Thanks for checking it out! And lucky you - I just uploaded a new version yesterday with more things to do ;)

(+1)

Took a min to understand the mechanics but very solid prototype! Would love to see this be turned into a fully fledged game!
Thanks for emailing me about this game!

(Beat the game first try hehe, though ngl, I probs was just really lucky with my artifacts)

I covered the game on this vid starting at 8:25

Thanks for playing! Fun to watch you play. To answer your question from the end of the segment, this was not made for a game jam but we did make the original prototype in 3 months (for tiny mass games). We're still actively updating it, in fact we just pushed an update today! For now we're working on the gameplay but at some point we'll shift attention to the more horror-y aspects :)

(+1)

Really liking the new update! Not sure if this is intended behavior, but in the new update, the Close Call perk is able to flip enemy cards

I'm glad you like it! Yeah that is intentional. Close Call is already really good so I figured that possibility helps balance it a bit (even if you do flip up an enemy, it gives you a pretty good idea of where enemy 2 is, so you're only risking yourself on the last 2 enemies)
